Globe Valves
Globe valves are one of the most important components of engineering equipment, serving as the final control element of the system. Should a globe valve succumb to fault or damage, production can potentially fall into disarray. When a fault occurs with a globe valve, you need to ensure that it is replaced or repaired in a timely and effective manner by industry experts who will guarantee the installation of a quality replacement that is reliable enough to support production going forward.
Issues with globe valves are never a disaster with the team at Valve Service PTY Ltd. on hand to save the day by resolving the issue and ensure continuous production going forward. For many years, our company has been preventing production disasters in the Melbourne and wider area through our supply of high quality valves and valve services.

Controlling the Flow with a Globe Valve
Globe valves are so called due to their shape, a spherical body composed of two halves. These are separated by an internal baffle that has an opening into which a plug, or disk, is screwed to form a seal that closes the valve.
A globe valve has the plug connected to a threaded stem so that the plug is opened and closed by a hand wheel and screw action in a manual version. Automated versions have a smooth stem and an actuator to open and close the valve.
Valves for many Varied Uses
A rotary globe valve is mainly used to regulate the flow of a liquid or gas in a pipe. It can provide exceptional levels of control, even with a relatively small valve, and may be used to:
- provide a fail-safe response in a nuclear plant
- regulate steam and condensate
- ensure a clean and dry air supply when combined with an air filter and regulator
- prevent failure upon loss of air
- reduce destructive turbulence and pressure drop by optimising flow and ensuring smooth transitions.
These valves are widely used in boilers, steam vents and water cooling systems due to their ability to regulate flow. They can control a wide range of gases, vapours and liquids in industries such as pulp and paper, water treatment, petrochemical and power generation. Due to this variety of potential applications, the valves can be manufactured in a variety of high-quality materials that include stainless steel, carbon steel, ductile iron and bronze, and you can choose the one that is most suitable for you.
Because of the valve’s shape and width, it has much higher pressure loss than other valves when it is fully open due to the change of direction of flow this causes. This is also partly due to the valve seat being parallel to the line of flow because it makes the valve efficient at adjusting the level of flow or shutting it off completely. It also means erosion of the seat and disk is minimised so that valves are longer-lasting and global valve repair is infrequent.
Consistency and Reliability are Ensured
All the valves we supply are designed and manufactured to provide a safe and reliable operating environment and a long service life with low maintenance costs. This safe and reliable operation is essential in industries where the valve is critical to achieve the necessary output consistently and safely, especially for applications where operating conditions are hazardous or pose severe difficulties.
Extending the operational life even further can be achieved by using our comprehensive globe valve service that can look after each valve from initial installation and commissioning right through to its eventual replacement. Having acquired a high quality, reputable brand at the outset, a regular maintenance programme will ensure it remains in peak condition and continues to provide a reliable service. This maintenance programme will also identify potential future problems and take action to prevent them from happening so the valve continues to do its job without failure or problems.
We provide a range of valves, including safety valves, pressure relief valves, stop valves, check valves, control valves and more.
